About New Literary Society
Welcome to New Literary Society, or as we like to call it, “NLS” (not to be confused with No Longer in School or… New Love Society, though I’m open to suggestions). Founded this year and brilliantly managed by Sal Gallaher, an Australian writer with Danish roots, and yours truly, Julia Kalman — also a multilingual writer who writes in Romanian, English, and (rarely) German.
I’m the owner (yes, I get the title, but it’s really all about the editors). Speaking of which, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve recently recruited a third editor — perhaps you’ve already noticed her dazzling presence? It’s none other than the fabulous Author, D. Denise Dianaty!
We are truly honored and happy that you agreed to join us.

Trust me, we’ve got a whole bunch of talent here!
I’ve found a goldmine of great memoir and essay writers, and artists, including young movie actors who, believe it or not, have a gift for writing.
Some like to keep things under wraps and use pen names (and no, I don’t mean Ben Affleck, who started following me on Medium a while back — typical scam, right?).
These writers have blown me away with their lively energy and the genuine spirit of their stories.
One piece had my heart pounding like a thriller — suspense? You bet! Terror? Oh yeah! I could almost feel the excitement jumping off the pages.
Another writer had me laughing so hard that I almost cracked my teeth on a fork — just like those British TV shows that have you giggling at the craziest moments.
And we can’t forget about the love stories that got me all fired up… ha-ha.
Speaking of getting fired up, one of our author’s squirrel tales took me on some wild rides. 😊
And… let’s not forget about meditation… Those tales linked me to my high school sweetheart: meditation and Buddhism. That sense of nostalgia recalled another charming idea — we’re all traveling through space on a giant butterfly’s back.
Then there’s my closest friend who offers a unique personal view — she journals her life and links me to nature’s basic pleasures and her sincere journey. It serves as a nice reminder that despite the distance, we remain close. Wishing you abundant energy and good health!
And… Z one of my earliest Medium friends, who’s very skilled and diligent, motivates me with his determination.
