Martino Sacchi is an Italian teacher of History and Philosophy at a small but active Liceo (high school) in Melzo, near Milan, where he has been teaching since 1987. He is also a freelance journalist and a contributing photographer for iStock and Getty Images.

He spent several years teaching as a cultore della materia — a role akin to an adjunct lecturer — at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, within the Faculty of Sociology. Over the past 20 years, he has dedicated himself to studying didactics, with a particular focus on the use of information technology in education. In 2009, he launched an educational website, Il filo di Arianna (www.ariannascuola.org), which serves as a hub for his professional experiences and insights. He has published numerous articles on this topic in some of Italy’s leading magazines. His work is guided by a straightforward principle: to integrate the strengths of both paper and digital media to enhance educational practices.

Sacchi believes that being an author in the Internet age differs significantly from previous eras. In light of new technologies and “digital convergence,” he argues that a 21st-century author must not only write but also create high-quality photographs, edit them, produce short videos, and publish diverse content.

In his youth, he was a yachtsman and later pursued studies in naval history and technology, publishing books on the life of English Admiral Nelson and European oceanic explorations in the 15th century. He believes that some lives are inherently so romantic that they need only to be narrated, without embellishment.

He has been married to the same woman since 1987, and they have two grown children.

Works by Martino Sacchi: Exploring History, Philosophy, and Education

I must confess that while documenting this article, I was truly impressed by Martino Sacchi’s prolific writing and the many editions of his works — an inspiring reflection of their success and lasting impact. Most were published well before the AI era and are now also available on Amazon, in Italian.

If you do not speak Italian, I warmly encourage you to read his stories on Medium, where you can discover his insights and experiences in English. Enjoy exploring his literary contributions!
