About the New Literary Society
The New Literary Society (NLS) publication, founded this year, is led by Sal Gallaher, an Australian writer of Danish descent, and by me, Julia Kalman, a multilingual writer and literary translator proficient in Romanian, German, and English.
Both of us bring extensive experience as authors to NLS.
Currently, we’re balancing our personal writing projects with family responsibilities and overseeing the NLS publication.
While Sal embraces winter in Australia, here in Romania — where it’s vacation season and temperatures soar to 104°F — I relish swimming with my family and spending time with our circle of writers and artists.
Additionally, I’m currently immersed in translating the NLS Author Interviews into German and Romanian during the evenings and on weekends.

I’m usually an all-black, little black dress, black jeans kind of person, but sometimes I get a bit crazier.

Once a week or so, we’ll showcase our writers’ stories in a post like this one.
