To reach you, I told the horse:

Hurry…

Spread your wings like in fairy tales

And soar up to the clouds…

Higher,

Further away –

Like the string of cranes

Gliding there on the horizon!…

Come on, horse, hurry!…

To reach you, I told the wind:

Give me your hand

And drag me with you wherever you can penetrate –

To the blood-stained horizon where the sun hides…

To reach you as quickly as possible,

Come on, wind, give me your hand!…

To reach you, I told death:

Move forward

And mercilessly reap everything alive in your path

And pave my way…

Smooth out the mountains in the distance

And fill the valley between it and me

With corpses –

Come on!… Come on, death, move forward!…

To reach you,

For you, they exhausted

The horse,

The wind,

Death –

All willingly followed my command;

But…

Between the folds of the curtain, your green eyes no longer

appear,

The guitar strings are broken,

And… the ballad has come to an end!
