Again, you’ve plunged into the stars,
And the clouds and heavens afar?
If you’d only not forget
The soul of my life, my love, my pet.
In vain, rivers in the sun,
Heap in your thoughts, one by one,
And the plains, so vast and wide,
And the darkened, endless tide;
The ancient pyramids ascend,
Their tops to the sky extend.
Do not seek, in distance far,
Your happiness, my dearest star!
Thus spoke the little one,
Sweetly smoothing my hair undone.
Ah! she uttered the truth so fair;
I laughed, not a word to declare.
Come to the forest, green and grand,
Where springs weep in the vale,
The rock stands, about to fall,
Into the grand abyss so tall.
There, in the eyes of the woods,
Near the serene pond, as it should,
And beneath the gentle reed,
We’ll sit in the mulberry’s heed.
And she will tell me tales and lies,
With her small mouth’s sweet disguise.
I, with a strand of chamomile,
Will test if she loves me, worthwhile.
And in the sun’s warm embrace,
I’ll blush red like an apple’s grace.
I’ll unfurl my hair of gold,
To cover your mouth, I’m bold.
If you give me a kiss so sweet,
No one in the world shall meet,
For it will be beneath my hat,
And who cares about all that!
When through branches the moon appears,
In the summer night so clear,
I’ll hold you close under my arm,
Around your neck, like a charm.
On the path of rustling leaves,
Heading toward the village eaves,
We’ll exchange kisses, soft and rare,
Sweet as hidden blossoms there.
And reaching the gate’s threshold,
In the darkness, our secrets hold:
Let no one worry, let no one pry,
Who cares if you’re my dearest guy?
One more kiss — and it disappears,
Like a pillar, I stand in the lunar spheres!
How beautiful, how crazy, it’s true,
My blue flower, sweet and new!
