When
When I beheld you, Verena fair,
I vowed within my silent mind,
To lock away my thoughts with care,
And feelings, too, their bounds to bind.
No passing smile of yours should breach
The doors of thought, my inner room,
For I feared passion’s fiery leech,
And life’s illusion met its doom.
Your Eyes
Your eyes, a sweet, yet cunning snare,
My silence then did quite bemuse.
The idol proud, your gaze laid bare,
I’d rather lose my gentle muse.
You wonder why, my queen, I’m mute
When you bestow your lovely grin.
To your proud idol, eyes refute,
His gentle, tempting slyness in.
An Angel
I do not tether thoughts with hair,
Nor penetrate your realm so fair,
For on your bones, a waxen stare,
Resembles a beginning rare.
No matter how melodious,
Or gentle as an angel’s psalm,
Or if, as harlot, you’d enthrall,
I’d look with eyes as cold as ice.
Sweet Temptation
I shunned the sweet temptation’s might,
And in my soul, I sought the ire,
For all the world and its attire,
Seemed like a futile, fleeting sight.
Desire for beauty can deceive,
I said, and a gaze from an archer fair,
Teaches the cruel pain we bear,
Injecting the worm of life to bereave.
Venom Kisses
In Friday’s kiss, venom does reside,
Arrows of delight, she casts, a playful guide.
She unmans the mind with a veiled sleight,
Your lovely mouth, your youthful eyes, in vain invite.
Instead of gazing, like hands void of a form,
To seek the enchantment of your eyes so warm,
I’ll guard these gates with a vigilant hand,
Or better yet, tear them from my forehead’s land.
Please, clap, engage, and… stay tuned for the next story…! But, most importantly, a profound thank you to each one of you. Your unwavering support has been invaluable.
