The Art of Gaming: A Journey From Mortal Kombat to Mind Games

What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?

Hello there, fellow game enthusiasts!

This week I found myself in a place you wouldn’t typically associate with video games – Artmark. Yes, you read that right, Artmark, the Romanian auction house known for its exquisite art pieces. But, like a hidden level in a complex game, I discovered something unexpected – video games!

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon my all-time favorite game, Mortal Kombat, tucked away among paintings and sculptures. Oh boy, the nostalgia hit me harder than Scorpion’s “Get over here!” move. I was instantly transported back to the neon-lit gaming rooms of my adolescence, filled with the symphony of bleeps and bloops, the highs of victory, and the lows of a brutal fatality defeat.

But wait, there’s more! Flippers were also up for grabs. Now, I was never much of a pinball wizard, but the sight of those shiny machines sent a wave of nostalgia rolling over me, reminding me of the background noise they used to provide to my intense Mortal Kombat matches.

Fast forward to the present day, my gaming landscape has drastically changed. The blaring sound effects and flashy visuals have been replaced by the quiet intellectual challenges of word games. Scrabble, Duolingo, Lumosity – these are the names that now populate my gaming hours. And let’s not forget the occasional chess match, where every move feels like a strategic battle.

Mind games and psychological tests have also captured my interest, providing a different kind of thrill. They’re like the puzzle pieces of an intricate game level, constantly pushing me to think differently and challenge my perceptions.

Looking back, I remember playing Aladdin, Prince of Persia, and even delving into the magical world of Harry Potter. Who can forget the charming spells – Flippendo, Alohomora, Lumos? They were not just games; they were gateways to new worlds, sparking imagination and fueling countless hours of fun.

From the high-octane fights of Mortal Kombat to the cerebral challenges of Scrabble, my gaming journey has been diverse and exciting. Each game, whether it involved casting spells or arranging letters, holds a special place in my heart.

So, here’s to the games we’ve loved, the games we play, and the games we’re yet to discover. May our virtual adventures continue to bring joy, challenge our minds, and occasionally transport us to a Romanian auction house filled with memories.

Game on, my friends, game on!
